Growing like weeds

From their respective 2.5 yr old and 9 month old checkups today:

Suchitra--28 lbs, 37 inches

Satya--19.5 lbs, 29 inches

Both are in 75%+ for height! Though no doubt they'll slow down the growth over the years and end up average like mom and dad :)

While mom was making lunch and baby Satya was taking a catnap this afternoon, Suchitra was busy in the playroom. When I walked in to check on her, she announced: "Look mummy, I wrote an A!"

Good job Chicha!!

Finally a new post

I know, I'm so behind in updates...

Quickly--

Suchitra is 2 going on 16. She has full conversations with us, her stuffed animals and herself. She also has rolling-on-the-floor tantrums brought on by...well, just about anything. Currently loves anything art related, and really getting into pretend play ("Dr. Suchi" loves taking care of her sick animals!) Little interest in physical play. Favorite color is still purple. Favorite foods are chocolate, ice cream and cupcakes...got mama's sweet tooth all right :)

Satya is a whopping 6.5 months old. Still our chill boy, puts himself to sleep, talks/screams up a storm when happy, no interest in rolling over but sits up quite nicely, thank you! Starting to launch himself out of the bumbo...uh oh. Started solid foods last week. Yikes! He's growing up!

Both kids survived two recent trips to San Diego and Ann Arbor and ended up having a blast. Happy wedding Shail Mama & Anna Auntie! Gonna have to work on getting Suchitra to say "Anna Mami" :) See lots of pics at http://4doshis.shutterfly.com/

2 years old!

Our chicha turned 2 last week. And boy did she know it.

She's a fiesty, opinionated nonstop talker who wants do everything "all by yourself". She talks in 5-8 word sentences, but can't quite manage to jump with both feet off of the ground. She knows colors, shapes, all of the letters in the alphabet and numbers to 10, but usually practices selective mutism when asked to identify them in public. She's a compassionate big sister who wants to make sure her baby brother is fed and happy, except when she tries to steal all of his toys. She uses the toilet to go "pee pee" 1-3 times a day, but we're too afraid to let go of her diapers!

In short, she's our "big" little girl: almost 3 feet tall and 26 lbs! Wow! We threw her a party last week to celebrate.

Satya, meanwhile, turned 3 months somewhere amidst the above craziness. He's a little over 13.5 lbs, and cooing and smiling nonstop. Still a good sleeper and still a homebody...hates the carseat and doesn't care much for the wrap, but couldn't be happier chilling on a blanket at home!

We're so thankful for our two happy, healthy little ones! Here's to a new year filled with joy!

Satya matya is 2 months old

Our Satya bear is 2 months old this week. Unbelievable. Here's what he's been up to:

• Growing well. Around 50th percentile for height and weight and a bit bigger for head. He's outgrown all of his hats!

• Sleeping well--5-7 hours per night. And unlike Suchitra at this age actually has some self-soothing skills. I put him down for naps awake and he goes to sleep on his own! Amazing. We are so grateful that everyone get a good night's sleep most nights.

• More alert when he's awake. I think he's starting to recognize me and Suchitra especially. Hasn't smiled yet, but we're working really hard on it!

• Loves the outdoors. He stares out the window happily for his entire awake time. During walks, when he is in the wrap, he refuses to let me tuck his head in for a nap--wants to be up and looking around the whole time!

• Absolutely hates the car seat. Trips to pick up Suchitra from preschool turn into 30 minute screaming sessions, with Suchitra chiming in "It's ok baby" every few minutes.

Meanwhile Suchitra is almost 2 years old! There's been so much going on with her that I'll write another post in the near future. For now, suffice it to say she's pretty amazed with Satya :)
